Mamawj's Moment Away: #Giveaway Enter To #Win Friends two oversized cappuccino mugs & a picture frame In the 30 Days of #Friend's Trivia Challenge

I'm sharing a giveaway with ya'll today, but what I really want to tell you about is the blog hostess Julie.

I've meet so many fun and sweet girls over the last few years right here in blogland.  Ya'll know what I'm talking about.  You've probably had those same conversations where you tell your family "oh' my friend so and so", and they look at you and "say who?".  Then you have to tell them it's my blogland friend and they look at you all weird like you've just lost it.  If only they got it.  No maybe I haven't met these girls in person but I sure feel like I have.

And OH' NO' don't you tell me they aren't real or real friends.  Them's fightin' words.

Back to Julie.  This is one sweet blogger - um person!  She's crafty, smart, loves entering giveaways and gets as much a thrill as I do by giving away prizes.  Once you meet/talk/write um' connect with Julie you'll feel just as welcomed at her blog as if you'd been living next to her all your life.  The only thing missing is a glass of sweet tea in one hand and a slice of banana nut bread in the other.

So I hope you'll take time and stop over at Mamaw'js Moment Away and introduce yourself.  She's a hoot!  While there you can enter her latest giveaway to win a Friends gift set.  I can't think of a more apropos giveaway for Julie.  Just click here and go enter!

Now go have a blessed Sunday, Ya'll.

Teach Your Kids To Vote

It was another first for all four of us today.  How so you may ask?  Well it was the first time Neil and I have ever been able to share the voting process with 2 of our grandchildren, Zach and Ki'a.
And it was the first time the children had the experience of going to the polls and seeing the voting process first hand.
I've noticed that all those T.V. ads that we're sick of seeing have even caught the kids attention.  After so many ads we find ourselves tuning a lot of it out.  Kids listen, even when they don't always show it.  The kids will ask us something and really get us talking about the election.  They make a lot of good points too.  Zach gives a lot of thought to the election and shows enough interest to want to discuss it.  He even makes me and his granddad re-think a few points.

  • Zach said "you're really wanting to go vote aren't you Grandma?".  Which gave me the chance to explain that's it a privilege to be able to cast my vote.  That it's also my patriotic duty.  Something that should never be taken lightly.
  • When we were at the voting booth, I shared that on election day, we have the opportunity to vote for more than just our President and Vice President.  We also vote for out state leaders and constitutional amendments.
I don't go in-depth with the process.  Heck, some times I'm not so sure I understand it all.  The point is, it was a simple introduction of the voting processOur children learn by example.  It was so easy to show them this first hand.  Now they know just how easy it is to perform their civic duty and how important it is.

Relaxing With The Smooth Sounds of Chris Mann's Roads

Have you heard the voice of Chris Mann?  If you watched "The Voice" you did.
Chris was a contestant on the voice.  He chose Christina Aguilera to be his coach.  What a great team they made.  Now just a year later he is releasing his upcoming debut album Roads.  He even brought Christina along for the ride.  They've done a duet together of  "The Blower's Daughter", a cover of the Damian Rice smash which features Christina Aguilera.

I've always loved all genre's of music and Chris has a unique mix of classic - pop.  Chris reminds me a bit of Michael Buble.  He has a beautiful smooth and soulful sound.  Easy going and relaxing.  He's covered people from Lady Antebellum with "Need You Now" to Frank Sinatra's "My Way" to Willie Nelson's "Always On My Mind".  He's even included a beautiful rendition of "Ave Maria".

You can hear Chris' voice in it's full tenor glory on his new album Roads.  This album has 11 songs that you'll enjoy hearing over and over.  Just what I would want to come home and listen to after a hard days work.  So relaxing. Take a look at the song titles below.

Roads
Need You Now
Cuore (Chris co-wrote)
The Blower’s Daughter (duet with Christina Aguilera, from the flim “Closer”)
My Way
Unless You Meant It
Always On My Mind
On A Night Like This
Ave Maria
Falling (co-wrote)
Viva La Vida

Take a moment and listen for yourself you can check it out here: ChrisMannMusic.com. Purchasing Roads by Chris Mann is easy too.  You can find the album on  iTunes and/or Amazon.com.

Disclaimer: This is a review post from One2One Network. I was provided with a copy of the album and I am eligible for a prize drawing. All opinions stated are my own.

A First Trick-or-Treating with Grand Kids

As long as you live you'll get to experience new things and last night was a new one for me.  After all these years with the grand kids living in New York, We finally got to trick-or-treat with them.  They make lovely column statues don't you think?
First let me introduce you to Jason aka...Zach.  Our 12 year old menacing grandson.
Next is our fiery little devil aka...Ki'a.  At the last minute she changed her mind and went from pirate to devil.  Good thing the cute tulle skirt her mother made worked out perfect.
The houses were all decked out with their creepiest finery.
The neighborhood is full of beautiful old homes and by dark the streets were taken over with princess', superheros, monsters and ghouls.  It's  a shame my night time photos didn't come out.
Zach was full of optimism.  He said no little Halloween bag would be enough for his haul.  lol.  He took a KING size pillowcase.
These kids made out.  Full size chocolate candy bars and m&m's were some of the nights favorites.
Do you see those gigantic ghosts?  They were huge!!   We saw some great decorations  and had so much fun laughing and watching all the fun.
We saw lots of adults dressed up and having as much fun as the kids.
I really enjoyed seeing the older folks taking time out to talk to the children.  They seemed to be enjoying the nights visitors.
Most of all I just enjoyed watching my family on this special night.  Knowing that we made memories together.  Ahhh....It really is a good life.
