How Many Projects Can You Start At One Time

Okay I'll admit it....I have trouble staying on task.  Anytime...but even more so now with the more bad days than good, health wise.

We seem to be all over the place in our home projects.  Leave it up to me to start one project and decide I can only do it by starting, three, four, five or more at the same time.  Now, that's nothing new.  Even as a kid at home, when I would decide to clean my room the project would run into the wee hours of the morning because I would start buy taking everything down off the dresser etc, and then clean each drawer inside out.  The difference now is that the project may start today and end next month.  Boy, I hate that.

So with that said, I thought I'd give you a few peeks of whats going on at our house.

Yep, there's a fabric project underway.  All because of a little paint project.  Ha, it's a huge paint project.
No simple recovering project here.  A complete makeover calls for foam.  Who knew foam could be so expensive.  Thank goodness for those 50% off sales.
New foam has to go on something.  So lets take a peek at the before.
I wish I had smell vision.  No, I don't.  I like you guys too much for that.  These were not my chairs.  If they were I would have never shown them.  I found them on the side of the road.  Gotta love free!  But seriously, the smell after getting them to the house (outside only) almost made me change my mind.

Time to sand them down to raw wood and start the staining process.  These need to come as close as possible to match the round pedestal game table in the first picture. Here's your sneak peek after staining and before clear coats.
Did I hear you ask "Is the paint job finish?, Are the chairs finished?" Well, no but we don't let little things like that stop us. Lets throw an art work project into the mix. I think I'll do a frame makeover and art project.
No time to stop now.  Lets throw a few more projects into the mix.  This is just some of the tile for the new kitchen back splash.  Neils laid it on the floor and surround it with wood to get some layout ideas.
Yes, my house does look like a construction zone but I can live with it just knowing that things are moving forward.  We did get the living room, dining room, powder room, and hall way painted and the kitchen is partially done.  The windows are now framed and painted too.  No small feat in a house of windows.

Well the list of projects goes on and on.  So stay with me for more sneak peeks and makeovers to come.

So what projects are you working on right now?  I'd love to hear about them.  If you have one that you'd like to share, let me hear about it. I'd love to share a peek here or maybe you'd like to even guest post here.  I love sharing new blogs with my readers.

Hugs....Tracy :)

Before and After Memo Board - Giveaway Reminder

I've got a really quick makeover to show you.  When Nadine moved into her new room at the nursing home they had a hideous old bulletin board.  Ewe...I couldn't leave it like that so I brought it home to clean it up.

But in true Tracy fashion, I forgot to take pictures of the before.  I did have a before and after for you of the tacks.  ha-ha.  We had a box of these old thumbtacks and I just painted them the same color as I painted the frame.
I was lucky to find everything I needed just sitting around in my stash.  Including the paint.  Her room's got yellows walls and not the prettiest dusty pink floral window treatments.  So I thought this would be pretty.
I couldn't believe I had a perfect fabric to match the paint.  I really love the velvet green trim.  I have rolls in a soft pink and soft violet too.  One of my favorite ribbons.
After removing the old bulletin board from the frame, I covered it with batting and then the fabric.  I just eyeballed the layout of the ribbon stapling it on the back and using the tacks to secure it on the front..
It doesn't get much simpler or quicker than that!

By the way , the nursing home that we hoped to move her to has a waiting list of 1 1/2 years.  And this is not a top of the list nursing home.  If you have a moment and can say a prayer for the care she's receiving where she is now, we would so appreciate it.  They haven't given us much reason for confidence these last few days.

And thank y'all for the amazingly kind and very generous comments you left, on the photo album post.  Y'all made me blush and Neil was so touched.

To be honest I certainly don't deserve it.  It seems easy to do something nice for her now but when it really counted, I wasn't the DIL I should have been.  With her Alzheimers she wasn't herself and I lost patience and was becoming resentful.  It was so difficult to be as kind as I should have been.  I'm certainly not the perfect DIL.  I'm so glad that there is so much more joy when we see each other now.

Have a fun weekend!!! OOO's...Tracy :)

Quick Fast Makeover - OOPS!

Yuck!  Pretty gross, right.  I hated the fabric that came on this very worn task chair.  Lint just clings to it so bad.  I can vacuum it daily but it's like an old sweater that's picked to pieces.  You just have to hand pick all the little balls off and it still looks cruddy.

So what do you do when you exhausted but have adrenaline flowing and your itching to get one thing accomplished.  Why you start recovering a chair at 10 pm, of course.  That's what I did on Halloween night.

I remembered that I had a bolt of this fabric in the closet that I planned on doing something with.  Valences, pillows, who knows.  I liked it and it was on sale and I new it would go great in our office.  (Unfortunately, we still don't have that done).  Anyway it's a great heavy woven upholstery fabric.  With the dark muted colors and fingers crossed, no spills, it should last forever or at least till I'm totally sick of it.

It was really easy and a quick project.  I had my handy electric staple gun, a screwdriver and removed the seat and laid it on the fabric and cut out a big square.  The staple gun worked out just perfect for this part.

Here's where the "It's too late and your too wiped out  to do this" comes in.  I get the back off, not to hard.  I look at the shape of the back, center it on the fabric where I want it.  Checked it at least twice before I cut, left plenty of extra so I was sure to have enough.  Check, cut and start to staple.  Nope not happening.  The seat was wood this was heavy duty plastic and my staple isn't going through it.

Okay, not a problem.   NEIL!!!!!!!

We find screws and the electric screwdriver/drill thingy.  And put in a lot of screws, then reattached the seat and back to the base.  Beautiful!!!  Simply beautiful, I'm thinking as I'm smiling ear-to-ear, so please that I accomplished and finish a task.

That is until it sat there mocking me........

Yep, look close.  The fabric on the back of the seat is upside down.  Did you notice, click the pictures to enlarge them.  I was so disappointed but not  disappointed  enough to recover it that night.  Who knows when I will either.  Luckily it's a not in you face pattern screaming "Hey, goofy put me on upside down".
