Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce Review and Giveaway

When summer comes we all think about grilling out. That brings to mind barbeque sauce, steak sauce and seasoning salts. But I never let the end of summer stop me from using those items indoors when I cook. I like nothing better than pulled pork barbeque sandwiches! Ummmm... my mouth waters just thinking about it.
To be honest until Country Bob's contacted me, I thought they only made barbeque sauce.  But that's not so.  They also make All Purpose Sauce which is perfect for steak, chicken, fries, seafood, baked beans and more.  I really haven't even thought about using steak sauce in years.  Okay, Country Bob I'm game.  Let's see what you've got.

After checking out Country Bob's recipe collection, I decided to give "World's Greatest Burger" a try.  The ingredients were simple and I had most of them on hand.
2 1/2 lb. chopped sirloin (I used ground beef)       3/8 c of Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce
1/2 package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix                 1 T Country Bob's Seasoning Salt

Combine chopped sirloin with Lipton Onion Soup mix, Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce, and Country Bob's Seasoning Salt.  Grill, and then top with about 1 T. Country Bob's All Purpose Sauce before serving.

So by now you can see where I differed in the ingredients.  I didn't use chopped sirloin, I used ground beef (I did drain the grease).  I also didn't have Country Bob's Seasoning Salt so I used the one I had on hand.  I also didn't need 2 1/2 lbs of meat for 2 people, so I cut the ingredients appropriately.
What did we think of the World's Greatest Burger?  I wouldn't give it that title but it was very good.  Perhaps using not using sirloin and not having Country Bob's Seasoning Salt made a big difference.  I think I was a little heavy with the Lipton Onion Soup Mix too.  And even though I don't crown it the World's Greatest Burger, I didn't leave any crumbs on my plate.  Neil and I rubbed our full tummies and agreed it was a darn tasty burger.

If you look on the back of a bottle of Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce you'll notice that his all natural ingredients are easy to read.  No weird additives here.  And another big plus is that is done not contain MSG and is even gluten free!   One tablespoon has only 25 calories, 6 grams of sugar and 170mg of sodium.

Country Bob Edson perfected the sauce of his dreams in 1968.  I admire the companies commitment to Christ.  As they say "It would be nice if we could claim responsibility for the success of the company, however, credit must be given where credit is due." Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."   We have placed true ownership of Country Bob, Inc. in the hands of God."

Do They Look Mad To You?

Ever other post my photo shows up on my reader.  Let's see if I'm lucky tonight.

It wasn't until after I sat the chicken on the counter that I notice my friends angrily eyeing our dinner.  Yep, I can just hear them squawking now, " The nerve of her!  How dare she?"  I laughed and ran for the camera.  Well since I've got the picture and  my roasted chicken turned out so good, I might as well share the simple recipe with you.

We don't like a lot of seasoning like thyme or rosemary so it really is quick.  It was falling off the bone by the time I cut it and ummmm...it was super moist.

Ingredients
  • One 5lb chicken
  • salt and black pepper (I don't use to much pepper)
  • 4-5 clove
  • 1/2 small onion

Preheat the oven to 450°F. Rinse the chicken, dry with paper towels.
*Great new tip that I just learned.  The less it steams and the drier the heat, the better.

Salt and pepper the cavity, then truss the bird. Trussing is simple.  You can see how just by looking trussing up online.  Basically you just take twine and tie the legs together, like in my picture above and tuck the wings under.  It was so tender when I took it out that the wings were pulling away from the bird.  When you truss a bird, the wings and legs stay close to the body and keep it from drying out. It also helps the chicken to cook evenly.  It just looks nicer too.

Now, salt the chicken - I like to put a lot of salt all over the skin of the bird so that it has a nice uniform coating that will result in a crisp, salty, flavorful skin. When it's cooked, you should still be able to make out the salt baked onto the crisp skin.  You can also season to taste with pepper but I don't.

Place the chicken in a roasting pan and put the chicken in the oven. I usually baste my chicken with butter or the birds juice - but I didn't this time. Like I said I didn't want steam at least for now.  I want it to be as dry a heat as possible.  And basting it would only  create steam, which I don't want.   I decided to use some of the dripping to baste the bird the last 15 mins.  Roast it until it's done, approximately 1 hour.  Baste once again and remove it from oven and let it rest for 15 minutes on a cutting board.

This is the way I plan on cooking all my birds from now on. That is if my other birds don't peck me first.
