From Fence to Bath Decor

This past summer we took our fence fell down.  It was time for it to go, we just wouldn't listen so when a good wind knocked more panels out than we cared to patch, down it came.  But I loved that old silvered wood and just had to hold on to a few pieces till I decided what to do with them.

After painting my half bath, it was time to take the old pictures down and change it up.  I decided to go with a more coastal cottage look.  Casual and relaxed is my new outlook and that led me to making my shelves from the old fence.  These two little shelves couldn't be simpler.  I just free handed the side shape on one piece of wood and then cut it with the jig-saw and copied it 3 more times.
I love this little bird cage candle holder I found at a thrift store.  I beached it up a bit with some turquoise paint and added a little $1.00 flickering tea lite from Dollar Tree.  It makes a perfect night lite.
I mixed a couple of shades of paint together to get the right tone on tone to stencil my design on the wall with my Cutting Edge Stencil that I reviewed a couple of months ago.  You can see that post here.

You can see in the photo I used the pointed end of the picket to make the top of the shelf.  Basically I just cut the wood to build a box on 4 sides and then topped with another picket .  I drilled holes in the back and just slid it on the nails to hang.  I painted them with a dry brush technique by just dipping my brush in white and barely swiping it on.

This is a very small room.  Just big enough for the toilet and sink.  I added a new scented bouquet of dried branches, sticks, etc to freshen up this corner.
I've had this 3 tiered bamboo basket shelf for a number of years and it's the perfect size to fit that tiny space between the toilet and sink.  It's so handy too.

I hope you enjoyed my little makeover.  I'd love reading your comments and would love to know what you think.

Hugs Ya'll.........Tracy :)
